Heejoo Park - Modern Artist
Heejoo is a Korean-born, Melbourne-based artist working across painting, woodworking, and traditional Korean lacquerware. Trained in fine art and certified in cabinet making, her practice bridges contemporary form and ancestral technique. She uses raw ottchil—the natural sap of the lacquer tree—along with hand-carved wood, mother-of-pearl inlay, and rice paste adhesives, intentionally avoiding synthetic materials. Her work is slow, grounded, and tactile. Through her brand So One, she creates objects that carry memory, care, and time—designed for everyday rituals and quiet attention.
